2023 Design Review
20 Jun 2023
In June the London and Cardiff studios came together in central London for our annual design review. The day provided an opportunity for the practice to get together and to take stock of its design output over the previous 12 months. Apart from being an opportunity to celebrate good design, it is part of our ongoing process of QA to ensure that all projects benefit from the same level of design consideration regardless of its scale or size, and to ensure that our buildings delight our clients and theirs.
The day started with a choice of walking tours of areas of architectural interest in the capital, including the Battersea Power Station redevelopment, Greenwich Peninsula Design District, Secret Courtyards of Soho, regeneration along the Regents Canal, and the post-2008 reinvention of the Docklands.
In the afternoon we reconvened in Paddington Basin for the design review presentation. Each project from the previous year had been submitted for review and after some considerable discussion, was narrowed down to a shortlist of 11 schemes which represented between them the high points of the year in terms of architectural concept, design and/or delivery.
