Holder Mathias Promotes Wilco Stekkinger to Partner
15 Jul 2022
Wilco has been part of the Holder Mathias team for over twenty years, first joining as a Part 1 graduate in 2001 and becoming one of the Practices’ most talented designers. Wilco has had extensive experience in both studios and was a key team member on milestone projects such as Altolusso and the Atrium, going on to lead the complex restoration and re-modelling of Gwyn Hall from the Cardiff Studio. Moving to London in 2012 Wilco led the design and delivery of a new 100.000sqft office development for use by Admiral Insurance in Newport, and culture, leisure and tourism developments ranging from the fit out of new teaching facilities for Central School of Ballet on London’s Southbank, to a 190 unit holiday resort at the Raithwaite Estate on the North Yorkshire Coast. Current projects include the continuation of his role leading the team on Boka Place, the €80m urban resort phase of Porto Montenegro, the masterplan for a snow-based leisure resort in Rhydycar in South Wales, and a series of projects for creative, conscious and playful hotel operator Birch.
Wilco’s enthusiasm is felt throughout the studios whether in establishing the framework of the annual design review or in promoting the Practice’s wellbeing, diversity and inclusion agendas.
Welcoming Wilco to the Partnership, Stephen Hill said: “Having interviewed and taken on Wilco as a Part 1 architecture student back in 2001, I am now absolutely delighted that Wilco has accepted an invitation to join the Partnership. In so many ways Wilco both contributes to creating, and represents, the unique culture of Holder Mathias.”
Wilco joins a Partnership of eight, evenly spread in age over more than twenty years, well placed to sustain a bright future for Holder Mathias.
