Based on Data Centre experience in Germany, Holder Mathias was commissioned to work on the new BT Ignite Data Centre in Cardiff Bay. It is based around a three storey high main building that links two modules housing the highly serviced data centre. This provides flexible server accommodation and modularised mechanical and electrical plant provision. Each 10,000 sq ft module houses approximately 500 computer server racks. The main building has a net area of 35,000 sq. ft. of open plan office space. The external façade is highly contemporary, balancing natural daylight and shading through the use of external louvres.
